The Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church “Golf Classic” was held on Friday, June 20th at the Lewisburg Elks Country Club. The Greg Allman Group participated in the form of donating an “Awards Sponsorship”. This event was the First Annual event and the proceeds of the event will provide financial assistance and develop ministries for those children who are caught in circumstances which many times result in poverty.

Speaking of golf, I did play in a golf tournament this past Saturday at the Fountain Springs golf course in Peterstown WV for the Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund. Our insurance company Morgan & Morgan sponsored a team and our team consisted of Blaine Philips (insurance agent), Adam Sams, Brian Dense and myself. When we came in with our score we were in 1st place but, as the other teams began to roll in we ended up in 8th place. Oh well, I think I will stay with real estate full time and just play golf for fun. It was a fun day and we enjoyed the barbeque lunch. The tournament was a success and raised over $5,000 for the church.

We enjoyed the Home Tour on Saturday, June 14th. Jill and I took the time to visit all of the homes and visited with many of our friends. We enjoyed all of the historical collections in Skip and Judy Deegans’ home on Washington Street in Lewisburg and was impressed with the major addition to the back of the home with the modernized kitchen but, still felt we were in the era the home was built.

The highlight of the tour was the Cerasoli 12,000 square foot home on Traveler’s Hill at The Greenbrier Sporting Club. The Mission style home with the 30 ft. high ceiling in the great room and the timber framed rooms were quite impressive. We are very fortunate to have all of the beautiful homes that are being built at the sporting club, and I am very excited to tour the new “green home” that is being built at The Greenbrier.

I know the Garden Club only offered 800 tickets for the tour and nearly sold out. It was a great event.

Being in the world of real estate one of our favorite bi-annual events includes the Lewisburg House & Garden Tour on Saturday, June 14th. The tour this year will feature six homes in Lewisburg, Caldwell and at The Greenbrier Resort. This event confirms that the Greenbrier Valley offers quality and unique new homes to historical Victorian homes. I talk to visitors that travel for miles to have the pleasure of touring the homes and gardens that we have in the Greenbrier Valley.

The event begins at 10:00am and ending at 5:00pm with a complimentary Tea served from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at The General Lewis Inn. Tickets are $20.00 per person and can be purchased the day of the tour.
