Historic homes, riverfront property and sprawling farmland compliment the many natural springs the Greenbrier Valley has become famous for. Here community and family are as important as Alderson’s history—and history is everywhere.
Designated as a National Register of Historic Places district, 165 structures of historic and architectural significance, including Greek Revival, Federal, Queen Anne and Victorian styled homes, are maintained with the respect and awe for what founders and settlers were created amongst the natural beauty of Greenbrier County. The historic district now protects commercial and residential streets running beside the Greenbrier River on both banks. The Alderson Memorial Pedestrian Bridge, built in 1913, is recently restored and is the only bridge linking two counties and one town together. A restored 1896 C&O Railroad Depot now features a seasonal museum and gift shop.
Quiet and peaceful, residents of Alderson enjoy a variety of outdoor adventures afforded by its nearby location to ski resorts, white water rafting, amazing fishing, hiking, biking and much more. Citizens in Alderson also know how to throw one big celebration, too. For a week in July, Alderson celebrates its annual 4th of July Festival, featuring great food, family entertainment and terrific fireworks.
Alderson real estate is among the most desirable in the Mountain State due to hits location among West Virginia’s stunning natural beauty and easy access to nearby cities such as Lewisburg and Beckley. Property values continue to increase as a result of the growing tourism industry in the Greenbrier Valley.
